THE WATER OF THE WORD
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Ephesians 5:26
God commands Husbands to love their wives and this love is agape which is divine love, sacrificial love and perfect love. An important part of a husband loving his wife is in sanctifying his wife and cleansing her with the washing of the water by the word. This is the same thing that the Lord Jesus does for the church.
The word of God functions as a cleanser. The word of God cleanses. Just before the Lord Jesus Christ went to the cross, he prayed to God that God would sanctify His disciples with His truth because God’s word is truth. This shows that God’s word sanctifies and sets us apart.
In John 15:3, Jesus told his disciples that they were clean through the word which he had spoken unto them. God’s word cleanses and this is why we attend church services and study God’s word. As God’s word is being taught in churches, Believers are cleansed. As you study and meditate on God’s word. You are clean.
So how does a husband cleanse his wife with the word? It is by the husband teaching his wife the word of God and speaking God’s word into his wife’s life. This is a husband’s responsibility. Rather than criticize and judge his wife, a husband should teach his wife the word of God and prophesy over her life. If she will not submit to his ministry, he has to pray for her until she submits to him.
A husband must realize that he is responsible for how his wife turns out. He is to present his wife as a suitable help-meet to himself. It is his responsibility and not his wife’s responsibility. He must use his God given authority to fashion his wife into the godly woman that God ordained her to be
PRAYER
Thank you Father for opening my eyes of understanding to see my role as a husband who cleanses his wife by the washing of the water by the word. I receive Grace to present my wife as a suitable Help-meet unto me, daily, by my ministry to and over my wife. Amen .
