MARRIAGE, ADULTERY, MASTURBATION AND PORNOGRAPHY (2)

WHY WOMEN CHOOSE THE DIVORCE OPTION? Keep on reading:  John met Mary while she was still in school. He had graduated some four year earlier. Being older and supposedly wiser, John set the peace for their relationship. He was definite and direct and he told Mary he wanted to marry her, a few days after they began dating. Mary was not so sure about getting married to him. She was a pretty lady and she quite frankly felt she deserved someone better than John.

Her parents, uncharacteristically, shared the same opinion. John looked more like a college professor than Mary’s knight in shining armour. He was not too handsome and he didn’t look like a body builder. Mary wanted Mr. Universe for a husband.

Fortunately for John, Mary was not on good terms with her parents. They had all but neglected her while she was growing up, being preoccupied with their own battles. Mary’s father was having an affair just before she was born and Mary’s mother turned against her husband and his concubine. The battle had been raging for some eighteen years when Mary and John met. Mary’s home was like a war front with both parents exhibiting fierce hostilities towards each and Mary grew up without having any siblings to turn to.

John understood the state of affairs in Mary’s home and was most understanding. He became a friend, a brother, a father and a mother to Mary. He seemed to genuinely care for Mary and he showed it in many ways even to the point of assisting with funds for Mary’s education whenever he could. Mary couldn’t help becoming quite fond of John.

After three years of dating, John wanted marriage. Mary still felt he wasn’t the right person for her. For one thing, he still looked the same, not her Knight in shining armour. Secondly, she felt he wasn’t romantic. John blamed his not being romantic on his upbringing. He promised to change after they were married.

Thirdly, Mary felt John couldn’t help her in her music ministry. He was more into and appreciated classical music while she preferred contemporary music. Mary believed it would make more sense to marry someone who would be an asset to her music career or ministry. Fourthly, and perhaps the most worrisome to Mary, she found herself always drawn to better looking men. This, she felt, was a prelude to disaster.

So why did she marry John?

John had always been and still was kind and considerate. She valued his friendship and counsel. When he threatened to stop seeing her if she wouldn’t marry him, she couldn’t bear the thought of his being out of her life. What if John was God’s will for her and she missed him? Perhaps her desire to marry a Mr. Universe instead of John was not a godly desire.

She tearfully explained her reservations to John who was devastated. But John wouldn’t give up. He assured Mary that all her reservations were understandable but he could change. He would become her knight in shining armour.

John followed up on his promise to change. He wore his hair in curls and started attending a gymnasium to add on some muscles. Mary was impressed. John had done so much to prove that he loved her. It would be unfair to turn him down after all he had done.

After six months of marriage however, John was not more romantic than he was during courtship. He stopped attending body-building classes. He simply couldn’t find the time anymore. Their first child was on the way and he had to spend more time at work. He informed her in plain words that she had to learn to love him for whom he was.
