ARE YOU LIVING THE GOOD LIFE?
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” 2Tim 3:16
Did you know that God gave us His Word to enable us live the kind of life that he prearranged for us before He even created us? If you read Ephesians 2:10 in the Amplified version, it says we are God’s products and that God planned for us to live a good life which He prearranged and made ready for us.
The only way you can get to know and live that good life is by having a working knowledge of God’s Word. Since God hates divorce, I’m pretty certain that divorce isn’t a part of that good life. If you’ve been involved in a divorce as a spouse or child, you know that divorce can be a harrowing experience. I always say there’s no happy divorce, especially where children are involved.
Folks like to talk about what Jesus said in Matthew chapter 19. They will say Jesus permits divorce in cases of adultery. They always forget however that Jesus made it clear that divorce was permitted in the Law of Moses because of the hardness of heart of the Jews. Jesus was clear. He said God didn’t plan for divorce in the beginning. Anyone suffering from a condition of hardness of heart will surely end up divorced if they got married.
In the business world, people often have Mentors. These are people who have succeeded in one line of business or the other and so people believe that they can guide them into success, so they become Mentees to them. The interesting thing though, is that if you refuse to follow the instructions and advice of your Mentor, you will not succeed. It’s a great idea to follow those who have successful marriages but how about following the author of marriage Himself?
To follow God, you have to follow his Word. God’s Word is a book of instructions. If you will do what the Bible says to do in and about your marriage, you will divorce proof your marriage. If you are a Believer and you would rather follow the world’s culture , when its contrary to God’s Word, you’re setting yourself up for divorce. Remember, it’s the Doer of the Word that’s blessed.
PRAYER
I thank you dear Father for giving me your Word to mentor me and guide me into the good life which you planned and prepared for me before the world began. I believe that divorce is not a part of the good life you prepared for me and I affirm that my marriage is growing stronger and it is aligned with your perfect Will for my life. Amen
