SAVIOUR OF THE BODY

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

Ephesians 5:23

Men are quite familiar with Ephesians 5:23 but they stop at Christ being the head of the Church. They don’t read the second half that says the Husband is the Saviour of the body. You see, as Christ is the Saviour of His body, the Husband is also the saviour of his wife.

Of course, I’m not saying that Christ is not the wife’s Lord and Saviour. Let’s look at the word Saviour so we can understand what is being said in this verse. The word Saviour is from the Greek word “soter” which means “a deliverer” But that’s not all.

The word “Soter” is from the Greek word “Sozo” which is translated as “to make whole” It is the responsibility of the Husband to make his wife whole. This means to save, heal and preserve his wife. This is a huge responsibility. Well, how exactly is he to do this?

The answer is in Ephesians 5:26. A husband makes his wife whole by continually speaking the Rhema (Word) of God over his wife. Words are powerful because they have the power to manifest what they talk about. A husband must speak God’s word over his wife’s life. He has the responsibility of framing and fashioning his wife with God’s word uttered from his lips. His wife will become whatever he says she is.

Unfortunately, most husbands are ignorant of this truth. When they find a fault in their wives, they complain, argue and fight. Some even begin to curse their wives. Because of the authority that a husband has over his wife, his words over her are not empty words. They will be established in her life.

A husband must refrain from speaking words that will damage or destroy his wife, no matter the temptation. The devil and his demons are  adept at sending thoughts that fuel conflict to couples. If you’re upset, walk away. Remember, your real enemy is the devil and his demons, not your spouse.

As the head, you have to take authority over your wife by cutting of every negative influence over her, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then you rebuke the devil and his cohorts and command them to cease and desist in their manoeuvre over your marriage. You will then decree peace over your marriage and home. Remember, your true enemies are spirits, not humans.

PRAYER/CONFESSION

In the Name of Jesus, I affirm that my wife is God’s gift to me. She does me, our family and the body of Christ good, all the days of her life. God’s counsel is established in her life everyday and she functions with the wisdom of God. She is my help-meet indeed and together we have a joyous marriage that continually glorifies God. Amen
