IT STARTS WITH A THOUGHT
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Matthew 6:31
Did you know that the Devil has absolutely no powers at all? He is not a creator and he no longer has God’s authority. Jesus has also divested him of Adamic authority. Jesus declared that all power in heaven and on earth was given unto him before his ascension.
So how come the Devil is still destroying marriages, homes and families? Well, the answer is simple. People don’t know the truth. They are uninformed about what the Lord Jesus accomplished when He rose from the dead. A Believer should never be afraid of the Devil. He is akin to a toothless Bull dog.
The word Devil in the Greek means a Traducer. A Traducer is someone who exposes others to shame and blame through misinformation and lies. The Devil is a Slanderer. His methodology is still what we see in the book of Genesis Chapter three. Through barefaced lies he deceived Eve and got her to disobey God.
The Devil is a spirit and so he communicates with humans through thoughts. A thought consists of spirit material, you can’t see a thought but it’s real. The Devil sends thoughts to people and if they accept those thoughts, they open the door for Satan to deceive and eventually afflict them. This is why we are counseled in the Book of Proverbs to guard our heart with all diligence.
The devil sends a thought to a wife as follows, “Your husband doesn’t love you,” That seems to be a harmless thought but it can lead to divorce if embraced, meditated on, spoken and acted upon. The Devil can send a thought to a husband as follows, “Your wife is against your progress.” If that husband accepts the thought, meditates on it, utters and acts upon it, that marriage is history.
In our theme verse Jesus explains that you accept or take a thought by saying it out. It’s your responsibility to reject all negative thoughts by speaking out against it and rejecting it. If you allow any thought that can bring strife and disharmony to fester in your mind, you are cooperating with the Devil to destroy your home. Don’t do it.
PRAYER
Thank you Lord Jesus for revealing the Devil’s strategy for destroying homes to me. I will no longer meditate on thoughts that can lead to strife and disharmony in my home. I chose to discard such thoughts by speaking out against them. Amen
