By now we know that every Believer that desires marriage should be on the lookout for the Help-meet that God will bring across their path. We may not know exactly who the Help meet will be as the search commences, but we know that they must be members of the Household of God.
There are many Believers who have married Unbelievers. There are some that even say that there are Unbelievers that are better behaved and are of better moral standing than some so called Believers. Sad to say, this may be true. Nonetheless, God’s word is clear. If you are a Believer and you’re single, it makes no sense to choose an Unbeliever as your Help-meet.
You see, a Believer is not just a human being. The word “generation” in our theme verse is from the Greek word “genos” and it means stock or breed. What this means is that a Believer is a different breed, they’re not human. Their bodies look human but that’s just the house they live in. The spirit man is the real person. Man is a Spirit, he has a soul and he lives in a body.
A Believer is a creature such as never existed before. You see, he is a God carrier, a divine creature, a partaker of the divine nature, superior to the ordinary man, the devil and his cohorts. He is a type of First-fruits of God’s creation and as such he is top class, highest in rank and in authority in all of God’s creation. His body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, God lives in him.
The Bible calls him light and calls the Unbeliever darkness. He is referred to as the Temple of God while the Unbeliever is referred to as idols. He is referred to as Christ and the Unbeliever is referred to as Belial. It doesn’t matter how morally upright a person is, if they’re not in Christ, they’re under the domain of darkness and Satan.
Light and darkness cannot co-habit successfully. A marriage between a Believer and an Unbeliever is an unequal yoking of the highest order. Someone once said that if Unbelievers are children of the devil, a Believer that marries an Unbeliever has procured the devil for a Father-in-Law. If you’re in Christ, God will not present an Unbeliever to you as a help-meet. He will not go against His Word. Sometimes, you have to be patient. God will bring the right one, eventually.
PRAYER
I am grateful Father, for you marked a path for me to walk in before I was born and along that path is the suitable Help-meet for me. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I ask that you shield me from satanic agents masquerading as friends. I ask that you lead and guide me aright in the choice of my suitable Help-meet. Thank you Father, in Jesus Name. Amen
