GUARD YOUR MARRIAGE
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:” John 10:10
In the Garden of Eden, God gave Man an assignment to dress the garden and to keep it. He was to tend the Garden and guard it. The word “keep” is an interesting word and it is translated from the Hebrew word “Shamar” which is to hedge about, guard, be circumspect. But if God gave Adam dominion over all creation, why did he have to guard the Garden?.
That question doesn’t get an answer until Genesis Chapter 3 when the Serpent shows up. In Revelation 12:9, we get confirmation that the Serpent was the devil, revealed in 1 Peter 5:8 as “your adversary”. He is the arch-enemy of every child of God. He walks about seeking whom he may devour.
Because of the importance marriage in in God’s plan for humanity, it’s not surprising that the adversary will give the marriage institution a lot of attention. It is clear that marriages, homes and families are the foundation of society. Healthy marriages produce healthy families which produce healthy societies. Failed marriages produce dysfunctional families which produce dysfunctional societies.
God’s plan is that children be raised in homes to become responsible adults, contributing their quotas to healthy prosperous societies. When homes are however dysfunctional, they produce irresponsible adults who take from, rather than give to societies.
The devil is a spirit being with demonic spirits at his beck and call. His attacks originate from the spirit realm and then manifest in marriages, homes and families as trouble, attacks, quarrels, disagreements, disobedience, anger, violence etc. If you permit the devil, he will wreck your marriage, your family and your home.
You have a duty to guard your marriage, family and home from the devil’s attacks. Spouses should pray for each other and for their children daily. You have to use your authority in the Name of Jesus to repel the devil’s attacks and to cancel his plans, influence and strategies against your marriage, family and home. Thank God, we have victory over the devil and his cohorts, always. If you resist him, he will flee from you.
PRAYER
In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I cancel every plan, purpose, influence, activity and maneuver of the enemy against my marriage, my home and family. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I repel every attack of the devil against my marriage, home and family. I decree peace over my marriage, home and family in Jesus Name. Amen
