FAITH FOR YOUR MARRIAGE
Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
The Bible tells us in three scriptures that the Just shall live by Faith. Faith is therefore not something to be applied once in a blue moon for a Believer. Living a life fueled and driven by Faith is compulsory for a Believer. The Bible states clearly that without Faith, it is impossible to be aligned with God.
When challenges occur in a marriage, not too many Believers think they can use their faith to fix the marriage. But we use our faith for our business or jobs, our health, finances and other things. Faith is a tool. It is an instrument we use to overcome challenges in every area of life. Faith is our victory, it guarantees our victory, always.
To have Faith is to be persuaded about the existence and reality of something that we cannot yet see with our optical eyes. But Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Faith then is to be persuaded that whatever God has said is the truth irrespective of whatever the circumstances or situations around us might be saying.
Hebrews 13:4, tells us that Marriage is Honourable in all. The word honourable here is the Greek word “valuable or costly” and it means “something to be desired above all else”. You have to be persuaded that your marriage is costly and of immense value to you and your spouse, irrespective of what you may feel about your marriage. You may feel that your marriage is the worst thing that has ever happened to you, but that’s inconsequential because that’s not God’s opinion.
You have to learn to distinguish between facts and truth as a Believer. Something factual is not necessarily something true. Facts are based on the senses while truth is based on God’s word. Any fact that contradicts God’s word is therefore a lie.
You must understand that you are the establishing witness in your life. Your testimony determines what your reality is. If you testify as to facts, the facts become your reality. If you testify according to truth, (God’s word) then truth becomes your reality.
Irrespective of what your marriage looks like, even if you and your partner have become like cat and mouse, if you will refuse to affirm what your senses tell you and you will continually affirm God’s truth that your marriage is of immense value and has given you and your spouse great advantage in life (because this is what God’s word says) soon enough, you will begin to see your words take on flesh and become reality.
PRAYER
Thank you Lord Jesus for making my marriage a testament of your grace, mercy and faithfulness. Thank you for the efficacy of your word. I affirm irrespective of my sensory perceptions that my marriage is of immense value to my spouse and I and my spouse and I are much better off because of our marriage. Amen.
